چکیده

Biometric-based techniques have recently emerged as a trustworthy and effective approach of user authentication; however, unlike conventional authentication methods such as passwords and tokens, if an enrolled biometric template is compromised, usually it cannot be revoked or re-issued. In this paper, four naive cancelable techniques, namely, shifting, password-dependent shifting, XOR and adding, for a bimodal biometric cryptosystem are presented. The proposed cancelable techniques are designed to be embedded into any bimodal biometric cryptosystem. The bimodal biometric cryptosystem uses speech and electrocardiogram signals as biometric information. The biometric cryptosystem implements an error-correction layer using the Hadamard code. The performance of the four cancelable techniques is assessed using ECG signals from MIT-BIH database and speech signals from a speech database created for testing purposes. The results show that the best performance in terms of FAR and FRR metrics is achieved with XOR and adding techniques.

A survey on biometric cryptosystems and cancelable biometrics

Form a privacy perspective most concerns against the common use of biometrics arise from the storage and misuse of biometric data. Biometric cryptosystems and cancelable biometrics represent emerging technologies of biometric template protection addressing these concerns and improving public confidence and acceptance of biometrics. In addition, biometric cryptosystems provide mechanisms for bio...

Dual-key-binding cancelable palmprint cryptosystem for palmprint protection and information security

Biometric cryptosystems and cancelable biometrics are both practical and promising schemes to enhance the security and privacy of biometric systems. Though a number of bio-crypto algorithms have been proposed, they have limited practical applicability because they lack of cancelability. Since biometrics are immutable, the users whose biometrics are stolen cannot use bio-crypto systems anymore. ...

An Effective Scheme for Generating Irrevocable Cryptographic Key from Cancelable Fingerprint Templates

Unswerving information security mechanisms are the need of the hour for fighting the escalating enormity of identity theft in our society. Besides cryptography being a dominant tool in attaining information security, one of the key confronts in cryptosystems is to preserve the secrecy of the cryptographic keys. The incorporation of biometrics with cryptography will be an effective solution to t...

An Analysis on Accuracy of Cancelable Biometrics Based on BioHashing

Cancelable biometrics has been proposed for canceling and re-issuing biometric templates and for protecting privacy in biometrics systems. Recently, new cancelable biometric approaches are proposed based on BioHashing, which are random transformed feature-based cancelable biometrics. In this paper, we consider the accuracy of one of the cancelable biometrics based on BioHashing and face. Throug...

An Analysis on Invertibility of Cancelable Biometrics based on BioHashing

⎯ One of the aims of cancelable biometrics is to protect privacy. In order to protect privacy, cancelable biometrics are preferably to be non-invertible such that no information can be revealed from the cancelable biometrics template, which is stored in databases for personal identification/verification. One way to achieve the non-invertibility is through the use of non-invertible transforms. R...
